How to Choose Your Wedding Photographer: The Questions That Matter
A practical guide to finding the right wedding photographer, beyond Instagram followers and price comparisons.
The wrong way to choose a wedding photographer: look at their Instagram, compare prices, pick the most followers for the lowest price. The right way is slower but it produces something different — a wedding album you still look at in twenty years.
The first question to ask is: what do their full wedding galleries look like? A curated Instagram feed shows their best 12 images. A full gallery shows how they photograph a ceremony that runs late, a reception that gets dark, a group portrait session that goes long. Ask to see complete galleries before you decide.
The second question: how do you feel when you read their communication? A wedding photographer will be with you for eight to twelve hours on the most emotionally charged day of your life. The person behind the camera matters as much as the photographs they produce.
The third question: do they listen or do they pitch? The first conversation with a photographer should feel like a conversation — not a sales call. If they ask more questions than they answer, that is a good sign.
